There are thousands of companies nationwide that will match an employee’s charitable contribution- often doubling or even tripling the amount of the original gift. In some cases, companies even match gifts made by retired employees. To find out if your company has a matching gift policy, please use our convenient search engine (or listing if possible).
BGCGW welcomes your gift through a pledge — a formal statement of intention to make a gift to the organization. With a pledge, you may complete your gift by making regular payments over time. Each payment on your pledge is eligible for an income-tax charitable deduction. For more information, please contact the Development Office at 202-540-2300.
Making a gift of Appreciated Securities/Stock to BGCGW such as stocks, mutual fund shares, or other appreciated assets can be a great tax-efficient donation method. In most instances, you can take a tax deduction for the full market value of the gift and avoid any capital gains tax. If you have further questions, or would like assistance in making a gift of securities/stock, please contact the Development Office at 202-540-2300 and we would be happy to assist you.
The BGCGW planned giving staff will work closely and confidentially with you and your financial advisers to ensure that your gift achieves your individual goals and expresses your personal vision for our organization. Making a planned gift is one of the best ways to support Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington. Planned gifts allow donors to make a significant impact on the lives of young people over an extended period of time while taking advantage of many benefits, which may:
Donors who make a planned gift of any kind will be recognized as members of The 1886 Society, named after the founding year of BGCGW.
If you are interested in any of our Planned Giving options, we will be pleased to work with you and your advisors to develop a planned gift that best suits your particular needs. For more information or to discuss your needs in confidence, please contact Paul Alagero.
Planned gifts can be made in one of many ways:
Charitable Remainder Trust may be funded with cash or appreciated assets such as securities, real estate or other property. You and/or other beneficiaries can receive income for life or for a set number of years. You receive an immediate charitable income tax deduction, immediate income and may receive relief from tax on capital gain. When the trust expires, the assets remaining in trust go to support the mission of BGCGW.
This can allow you to pass wealth to your children or grandchildren with minimal taxation. Sometimes called a "reverse charitable remainder trust," a charitable lead trust provides income to BGCGW for a period of up to twenty years. When the trust expires, the principal is returned to you or your heirs with significant estate and inheritance tax savings.
You may choose to donate your home, vacation property or other real estate to BGCGW while retaining use of it for the lifetime of you and your spouse. You will receive an immediate charitable gift income tax deduction, avoid tax on capital gain and the property is removed from your estate. So long as you retain use of the property, you are responsible for its maintenance and the payment of property assessments.
Naming BGCGW as a beneficiary of your will can, when properly planned, reduce the rate at which your estate is taxed. You can make a charitable bequest of a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate or the remainder of your estate after planning to care for your family and friends.
