The great thing about the Club is that every kid is a star! Because there are so many programs and activities, there is a 100% chance that each Club member will find his or her niche. What I, as well as other staff members, delight in is seeing a child who had low self-esteem when they joined become a leader in the Club.
The Dunbar Alexandria-Olympic Branch has a high percentage of teens that attend the Club on a daily basis. If there are 20 teenagers in the Club, then there are 20 less teenagers outside the Club engaging in dangerous, negative behavior.
Of course the building is 66 years old and in need of repair and upgrades, but, it is what many of our members call their home away from home. Young people come on in and experience the fun and excitement of Boys & Girls Clubs! Adults, please consider us when deciding to donate your time and resources. It will be the best investment that you can make... an investment in America's future.
