With 74 years of experience, Camp Ernest W. Brown—a 168-acre residential summer camp situated on the picturesque Potomac River—provides children ages 7 to 13 an opportunity to take a break from city life to connect with nature and explore the outdoors!
As one of the Washington, D.C. regions oldest and most trusted residential summer camps, Camp Brown offers a fun, safe environment for youth to experience the wonderful outdoors, while building friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.
Campers spend a relaxing week by the waterfront enjoying programs and activities facilitated by trained Boys & Girls Clubs counselors and Metropolitan Police Department officers. With a 150-foot fishing pier, children play on Camp Brown’s spacious waterfront grounds, courts, sports fields and experience fun activities such as swimming, fishing, boating, sports and fitness, music, games, arts and crafts and much more!
Residents spend the week in air-conditioned cabins equipped with bunk beds and enjoy three nutritious meals, plus an evening snack, in the modern, fully-equipped Marriott Mess Hall while participating in Camp Brown’s specialized curriculum which covers a variety of areas that nurture and re-enforce self-awareness, self-esteem, character and healthy life choices.

OPEN ENROLLMENT SESSIONS
Session 1 (June 27th): Mind, Body & Soul Week
Campers will not only gain knowledge of proper nutrition and physical fitness, but they will also strengthen their ability to exchange positively with peers and engage in healthy relationships.
Session 2 (July 4th): Showtime Week Lights! Camera! Action!
This week campers will get in touch with their inner performer as they prepare for a camp-wide talent show. Activities include dramatic arts, dance, modeling and stage crew training.
Session 3 (July 11th): Olympics Week
Who will bring home the gold?! Teams will focus on teamwork and problem-solving skills by participating in a week long competition. Sign up and find out who will emerge victorious!
Session 4 (July 18th): Homecoming Week
Camp Brown will celebrate its 74 year legacy of providing a fun filled escape to urban youth by focusing on the camp’s rich history. The campers will also welcome alumni, parents, board members and the community to our annual Camp Brown Director’s Day. Parents are welcome to travel with us to join in the festivities.
Session 5 (July 25th): Go Green Week
Children attending this week’s program will learn how to implement environmentally-friendly practices into their life. Also, they gain insight into energy and water conservation.
Session 6 (August 1st): International Week
Campers will participate in activities centered on celebrating cultures from around the globe.
Session 7 (August 8th): Adventure Week
Traditional camp activities including nature and outdoor exploration are the highlight of this week.
