The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington’s (BGCGW) Women’s Leadership Group (WLG)
The WLG was established in 1999 with the goal of creating an annual fundraiser to provide significant financial support for our at-risk youth. To date our annual fundraiser has netted over $5.5M in support of BGCGW and its programs helping to enhance educational initiatives, scholarship opportunities and cultural arts exposure. The WLG will continue to fund these much needed areas including our Artmobile, the multidisciplinary arts and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) programs. We also recognize the importance of expanding our focus which is to make a positive difference in the lives of our 15,000 youth in our 12 sites throughout the greater Washington area. For example, Fearless Girls, an initiative based on Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s SMART Moves (Skills Mastery And Resistance Training) is a strong addition to our portfolio. This evidence-based curriculum focuses on health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement for girls ages 8 to 17.
The WLG continues to grow as a dynamic force of influential women in the greater Washington community, giving generously of their time, talents and resources to help improve the lives of our area youth.
