When you’re surrounded by people who share a passionate commitment around a common purpose, anything is possible.”

Howard Schultz

Chairman & CEO of Starbucks – Club Kid!

Making great futures possible for kids and teens who need us most is the commitment we each share as stakeholders of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington. From volunteers like Mr. Mike in Alexandria, who not only provide the bicycles, but teach kids how to ride; financial supporters who provide funds for the full spectrum of what’s needed behind the Blue Door; to a staff I can’t praise highly enough for the lack of boundaries they place on their time and care – each puts into action Mr. Schultz’ definition of commitment.
We have experienced the truth of possibility in many ways. Very recently we joyfully learned that the NAHYP* selected our TAP Powered by STEAM programming as a top 50 finalist among arts and humanities programs for youth in the country. This is hands-on visual and performing arts instruction for tweens and teens that has for years been lovingly crafted and offered by our Regional Artistic Director, Tony Small. His partners have been volunteer artists and performers, including the great Denyce Graves, Dr. Ryo Yanagitani, Frederic Yonnet and Joe Coleman to name a very few. We could never have properly compensated any of these individuals, amateur or famous, with money alone. It is their commitment.
Some years we have been unable to offer TAP Camp but we knew it was a premiere opportunity for our kids. Tony and our Women’s Leadership Group kept striving, and now we have confirmation. Excellence is possible, positive affirmation is possible, great futures are possible!  Help us help our kids be possible  — come to a Club, donate and demonstrate your commitment today.
As always, Pandit
